Singles is where they are in the streaming era, and Anne-Marie (as she’s called) is one of those artists whose albums seem to be just the last thought. Therapy is just his second suggestion, following his 2018 solo debut, Speak My Mind.
It was a hot mess, the voice of a talented singer trying to figure out what had happened to her, and it included everything from Amy Winehouse’s filthy British soul to EDM bumps and tropical fever beats.
Part of the problem with finding her own identity may be that Anne-Marie makes the phone book look alluring. Her voice is the certified standard for an American diva, with a rich, dark, medium tone like Rihanna’s and the boyish high notes of rival Ariana Grande.
